I love this idea from Martha Stewart's Craft of the Day. It's a "button-up" window shade. What a great idea. The MSL instructions are not very detailed and the picture above is the only one provided (says me, who makes a mile-long post with a gazillion pics about my window treatment in my kitchen!), but it is a very simple shape so it should not be too hard to make. I would think you could do this to a panel you might already have, too.

I saw this on Martha's craft site and have been thinking of doing this idea for the window and door in the utility room. I bought some beige material last summer for this project. I really like this idea, and was looking at some material just yesterday for the reverse side.
I am not the most experienced on a sewing machine and wish the photo could be enlarged. As you said, it is simple; but for me it helps if I can get a really good look.
It was your blog that gave me a link to Martha's site and I ended up registering. :D
Cute idea, Karol!!!
Take care.

Wow- I would never have thought of doing it with buttons...I love that idea!! I have some similar shades now, but you have to use the straps with the velcro. Buttons would make it adjustable and super cute!! Thanks for sharing!!

Girl - I have been trying to figure out a curtain for the window on my kitchen door that would grant us some privacy but also let in light some of the time!! I love this! I have just printed out the directions for these curtains! Thanks!
