Christmas Clean-Up

Well, Christmas has come and gone and now it is time to get ready for a brand new year. I usually wait until after New Years to take down my tree and decorations, but I have decided to clean up early.

It feels just as good to me to put things away, clean and organize as it does to drag it all out and put it up. Everything feels clean and fresh.

I am gearing up for a few home projects. One is a cork note board for my office. I am using an old frame I had in the attic. I will share this week how I make my cork board. Very simple. The "K" initial I bought at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago. Hobby Lobby has the cutest initials in metal, ceramic, and ceramic tiles. This week, again, they are all 1/2 off!

I also painted this star in nice spring/cottage colors last night. It was a deep rust color. Nester gives great tips on how to paint stars when you need a fresh touch of color. This star is hanging in my stairway now.

I have that urge to clean and tidy, but have to wait until the weekend. Bill likes me to leave the decs up until after his birthday, and I can understand that :O) Luckily his birthday isn't at the end of February or anything like that!!! !

Really love the white dove and twig arrangement. A lovely idea, I might have to do something along those lines, once the Christmas tree is out of the bay window! One thing I really miss during December is my vase of flowers on the windowsill in the bay. I still have them throughout the house, but to me my house looks 'right' when there are flowers in the window. One of my things!

Well, I must scoot. Have a lovely end to the year, and I hope that 2009 brings you good health, joy and happiness.
much love xxx

The idea of using an old picture frame for a corkboard is terrific.
I have a solid Cherry mirror frame from my parents' bedroom furniture. I had a mesquite frame made for the mirror to work in with my decor. I thought of putting the frame in a garage sale, but have hesitated for the last five years. lol

Thanks for the idea...the next time I'm near a Hobby Lobby or Michael's, I'm picking up some cork. The hobby room is getting a fancy corkboard.

I'll be checking back to see how you do it.

I'm with you Karol, it's time to clear out and clean up the joint!
Once that Christmas feeling goes by...it's time to box up and put away. Tidiness is king, especially with the New Year coming in, we want our space to be neat, to welcome it in. I love the color combos on your star. That color is one of my favs.
We had a day of sunshine today, so it was "almost" as nice as being in Florida.....almost!
God bless as the old goes out and the New Year comes in.

It must feel good to have all the Chrismas decorations neatly tucked away...I always procrastinate doing it as I find it not nearly as fun as putting it all out.

The star looks great. I like them too. I just finished putting away my Christmas decor. It sure isn't as fun putting it away as it is putting it out for Christmas. Happy New Year.
