Recently my daughter and I were out one Saturday morning early and decided to stop at some garage sales. I have a very small living room and needed two chairs for an area in my living room. I wanted something I could slipcover.For $25 I got both chairs above. That's $12.50 per chair! Nester would be so proud of me. I am not liking the pink stripe fabric, but they are in excellent condition. I am going to slipcover them in a duck cloth fabric to give them a coastal/cottage look. I am having a difficult time deciding if I just want natural duck canvas or something with a print.
I will share my results when I can decide on fabric and get the slipcovers made.

That's a great deal! The pink pinstripe look is so vintage or shabby chic, but I know it's not your style for your oceanic cottage! Still- those are some nice looking chairs! WooHoo! Can't wait to see what you decide to do with them as far as fabric goes!

I found a similar pair of chairs at a sale too, a couple years ago! I had them slipcovered in a beautiful thick chennile fabric and still love them. I put them in my living room on either side of the fireplace...

Wow, if you are so inclined, you are more than welcome to leave me some tips on garage saling! I just bought a big house and need to furnish it & decorate it w/out needing to call in Thelma or Louise to help me rob a bank! How do you plan which ones to go to w/out spending hours driving around? Just curious. Love the chairs. I'm jealous. ;)

I'm currently making slipcovers for similiar chairs in a heavy duck, care to share any tips? The curves are a PITA!
My advice (because, YES, they curves can be a big giant pain!) is to make a pattern. I have used cheapo muslin fabric and shaped it to the chair and cut my pattern. It can be so much easier than paper patterns. That way you also have a pattern to keep incase you are doing two or you need to make another slipcover later down the road. As far as curves and piping goes. Always cut fabric on bias for easier curves. I love the look of plaid on the bias as piping. Please share a picture of your duck cloth slipcovers when you are done. I would love to see. I am STILL trying to decide what color to do mine in. Choosing fabric sometimes is like shopping for a new purse for me!
