Is there a place in your home that needs a little extra touch? Maybe you've painted the walls a light/neutral color and want to add a little interest to a wall. Do you have a special saying or scripture that you would love to have on the wall?
This is what I did on the plant ledge between my living room and kitchen at the bar.
I didn't use a special stencil and I certainly didn't freehand paint this!
I simply printed the words out in Microsoft Word. Did you know you can make any font as large as you want in Word? I think it only goes to 72 on the drop down menu, but if you hightlight the text in a document, then click on the font size and highlight, then type whatever number you want and click enter it will resize that font to say... 300 -if you want. I also change the font color to a light grey to save ink since I usually print the first page a few times to get the size right.
After printing out all the pages of my phrase I tape them together so it is one continues sheet. Then use carbon paper (if you have it). Tape your words on the wall and then place your carbon paper carefully under the words and trace very lightly. Be sure not to press on the carbon paper, it can be messy! If you don't have carbon paper you can color the back of the letters with your pencil and use the carbon from the pencil as a way to transfer the image.
As above, I first transferred the word "Cherish", then painted it. Then transferred the words, Faith, Family, Friends and painted them.
If you click on images you can see a large view.
There are just hundreds of beautiful and interesting fonts that you could use to paint words on your wall. Use your imagination and go for it!

I did not know about that with 'word', I shall have to try, there have been many times when I wanted to print off larger text for various projects. :O)

What a wonderful idea...thank you for sharing it! This is my first visit to your blog and I have really enjoyed it...I will be back!
Hey!
I didn't know how you did this lettering at your house, but I recently ran across this interesting website for vinyl lettering which looks like painting. http://www.quotethewalls.com/
I really like the idea of stenciling words or phrases on walls - no matter how one does it! It's a cool touch!
See you again soon!

What an awesome idea!! I love this--now I just need to figure out the saying I want to put on my walls!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, too! You have wonderful home ideas--love it!
Love the way you did your words on the wall, it is really great!
Next time you might try using graphite paper instead of carbon paper--lots less messy. You can find it at Michael's or other craft stores.
